Our History
Southern Horizon Aviation Academy was founded in 2025 by Chris Jones, CFI/CFII, with a mission to make flight training more focused, more efficient, and more practical for motivated pilots.
Built on the belief that good training should be structured, personal, and proficiency-driven, Southern Horizon was created for students who are ready to make real progress. Whether they are finishing a private pilot certificate, pursuing an instrument rating, preparing for commercial pilot training, or looking to become a safer, more confident pilot.
Located at South Arkansas Regional Airport in El Dorado, Arkansas, the academy provides accelerated, one-on-one training in an environment designed to reduce distractions, build confidence, and prepare pilots for real-world flying.

Training Packages
Private Pilot Finish-Up
A focused 5-day program for students who have already started training and are ready to finish. We provide structure, aircraft access, one-on-one instruction, and check ride-focused preparation to help you cross the finish line.
Accelerated Instrument Rating
An intensive 8-day program built around IFR procedures, precision flying, simulator training, and real-world instrument decision-making.
Customized & Advanced Training
